I love it when my two passions come together as in this picture, with this beautiful white Chevrolet Impala in front of a very cool lettering done by the late Alex Scaner, who left too soon. In two posts, we'll go around this building which is located at the corner of Florian and De Rouen streets next to the De Rouen viaduct, a legal wall for graffiti in Montreal.

The biography comes from a post I made about this artist a few months ago Street Art #312. Alexandre Veilleux aka Alex Scaner is born in early 80's. During his studies at Notre Dame College in Montreal, he did his first graffiti since then it has never stopped. After his studies, Alex made a living creating legal murals for hotels, bars and stores. At night, Scaner was looking (scanning the streets) for the perfect places to paint, hence maybe his surname. But by the age of 28, he is affected by liposarcoma (wiki). After his first cancer diagnosis, he wanted to create and multiply his signature on the walls, not only of Montreal, but also of Miami, New York. He died at the age of 36 on September 9, 2017. Since then, he has never disappeared from the walls of Montreal.
La biographie vient d'un post que j'avais fait sur cet artiste il y a quelques mois Street Art #312. Alexandre Veilleux aka Alex Scaner est né dans les années. Pendant ses études au collège Notre Dame, il réalise son premier graffiti et après il n'a jamais arrêté. Après ses études, de jour, Scan réalise des murales pour les hôtels, bars et magasins… Mais la nuit, il scanne des murs pour trouver la meilleure place pour ses œuvres (d'où son surnom). Mais à l'âge de 28 ans, il est diagnostiqué avec un liposarcome (wiki). Cette nouvelle lui donna l'envie incontrôlable de créer et de multiplier sa signature sur les murs du monde entier. Il est mort à l'âge de 36 en septembre 2017 laissant un énorme impact sur la scène montréalaise. Depuis, il n'a jamais disparu des murs de Montréal.

Another big name in the Montreal art scene with Stare. Not the first post written about this artist, but here his bio. He's Canadian street artist based in Montreal known for his innovative and versatile style. He begins graffiti in 1996 as writer as he likes typography and calligraphy. He's co-founder of the NME crew (Nous Menaçons L'Ennemi in French, We Threaten The Enemy). You can see his works in different cities around the world: Paris, Miami, Barcelona, Toronto, Sao Paolo, Taipei...
Une autre pointure de la scène artistique montréalaise avec Stare. Ce n'est pas le premier post fait sur cet artiste mais voici une bio rapide. Il est un artiste basé à Montréal connu pour son style toujours différent et innovant. Il a commencé le graffiti en 1996 en tant que writer car il est passionné par la typographie et la calligraphie. Il a fondé le collectif NME (Nous Menaçons l' Ennemi). Vous pouvez voir ces oeuvres dans différentes villes autour du monde : Paris, Miami, Barcelona, Toronto, Sao Paolo, Taipei...
