Eye of Art #5 : Luiz Zerbini

A weekly series to share my art discovery with first the work that caught my eye...

Reading an article about the success/failure of the return Pachamama for the population in Latin America, especially in Ecuador, I noticed some great illustrations mixing geometric shapes and natural elements like leaves. In the middle of the article, there is this reproduction of this Luis Zerbini canvas :

Born in 1959 in São Paulo (Brazil), Luiz Zerbini graduated from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado in Fine Arts and was a member of Geração 80 with painting as main medium. In 1984, he participated in the exhibition Como vai você, geração 80? in Rio de Janeiro. Now, he works with differents medium (sculpture, video, photography, drawing...).

With his rich palette, he mixes organic and geometric patterns to create optical effects. Great works... He received many prizes (1995 : Grand Prize of criticism in the visual arts category of Art Critics of São Paulo Association APCA) and exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world.
