After showing you some nice streetart from Thessaloniki in Greece, we jump now to another contintent and continue a series there. The next postings will be from Asunción - the wonderful capital of Paraguay. They have great streetart and as well their own kind of graffiti style which combines a lot of characters and traditional elements. Here we have now a nice wallpainting which shows a local animal of the Paraguayan jungle: The Jaguar!
The Jaguar is, albeit in small numbers, almost ubiquitous in Paraguay. Danger does not necessarily come from the animals. The big cats used to be found everywhere from Brazil to Uruguay. But now there are only a few isolated spots on Paraguay's map, where some 200 - 400 animals live in freedom. In eastern Paraguay, there are free-living animals in the departments of Amambay, Concepción, the north of San Pedro, Canindeyú and much of Alto Paraná. However, a smaller group also lives in parts of Caazapá and Guairá. In West Paraguay, it is the three departments of Boquerón, Alto Paraguay and Presidente Hayes, where a permanent number is at home. It is assumed that one animal alone needs 10,000 ha to survive.
