You have to comment meaningfully on other people's posts so that you become well known. And introduce your contacts from other platforms to steemit so that they can vote for you. And attend other forums (like bitsharestalk.org and bitcointalk.org) with the same user name you have here so that you get well known. And join some of the many Facebook groups dealing with steemit or cryptocurrencies.
