Here my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #42 with another mural done by Ruben Carrasco. I already used a work of this artist for the contest (CCC's Street Art Contest #37). While reading his biography and browsing his Instagram account, I realized that he had done several murals in Montreal. So last weekend, I went for a walk to take some pictures and here are the results.
Voici mon entrée pour le CCC's Street Art Contest #42 avec une nouvelle murale faite par Ruben Carrasco. J'ai déjà utilisé une œuvre de cet artiste pour ce concours (CCC's Street Art Contest #37). Et c'est en lisant sa biographie et parcourant son compte Instagram que je me suis rendu compte qu'il avait fait plusieurs murales sur Montréal. Donc le weekend dernier, je suis parti en ballade pour faire quelques photos dont voilà le résultat :
Le Jeu of Creators & Coatlicue
Ruben Carrasco is an artist from Mexico. As many artist (and everybody), he began to paint when he was a kid. But at 15, he decided to sell his work in the street. He studied at the Visual Arts Institute in Mexico but didn't finish the program. Some years later, he finished his studies at the Anahuac University in Cancun and after at McGill University and Dawson College in Montreal. He's also tattoo artist, set designer working in theaters, photographer, graphic designer... He's the founder the international artists collective 5 Wolves No Pigs and co-founder the art festivals IPAF (International Art Festival). Busy artist 😀
Ruben Carrasco est originaire de Mexico. Comme de nombreux artistes (et comme tout le monde), il a commencé à dessiner petit. Mais dès l'âge de 15 ans, il a decidé d'aller vendre ses dessins dans la rue. Puis il a étudié les Arts Visuels à l'Univertié de Cancun avant de poursuivre ses études à Montréal à l'Université McGill et au Collège Dawson. Il travaille aussi comme tatoueur et pour les décors au théâtre, photographe... Il est fondateur du collectif international 5 Wolves No Pigs et co-fondateur des festivals d'art IPAF (International Art Festival). Il ne doit pas s'ennuyer 😀
The mural was painted in 2020 and named Le Jeu of Creators & Coatlicue. Coatlicue aka Mother of the gods is the Aztec goddess of fertility, patroness of life and death, guide of rebirth. The main character is a mix of a Lacrosse player, a sport practiced by the First Nations. It's said that this sport was practiced by the creators of the World and the animals.
Cette murale peinte en 2020 se nomme Le Jeu of Creators & Coatlicue. Pour info, Coatlicue, aussi connue sous le nom Teteoinan (mère des dieux) est la déesse de la fertilité, de la terre dans la mythologie aztèque. Le personnage principal est un mix d'un joueur de Lacrosse, sport pratiqué par les Premières Nations. Il est dit que ce sport fut pratiqué par les créateurs du monde et les animeaux.
