Here my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #33 with a mural that goes all around the building (well the 3 possible walls 😀) done by Pito :
For the contest I chose this picture which shows only a part of the mural (on Mentana Street) but the most important one. Because the general view doesn't allow to see well the quality of the work (I'm not a good photographer yet 😀). This represents a street in downtown Montreal during the Prohibition I think but I don't know where exactly...
Here is the view of the whole building, as the mural is in black and white, it's almost hidden :
I'm not completely sure about the artist Pito :
You can see the name on the wall in the alley but when you're looking to his Instagram, Pito is more a writer. But you find the mention about the crew 4ha. So...
Who : | Pito |
How : | Mural |
Where : | Corner of Mentana Street and Duluth Avenue, Montreal. Google Maps |
When : | 2016/2017 (if I rely on Google Street) |
I continue to show you the rest of the mural with different details like this doorman, on Mentana Street near to the main part :
The door is real but the small window and the rivets en trompe-oeil. Cool effect, with these small details, the door seems to lead to a speakeasy under Prohibition. But in reality, it must be the service door 😀
Close-up on the women and old cars...
And the last part is on Duluth Avenue :
The police who will raid the speakeasy ?
Great work, a whole story is told (or it's my imagination after a glass of whisky 😀).
And it's cool to see that the work has not been tagged despite all these years (only one tag Zonek but it doesn't disturb in any way).
