The Azores, that are located in the Atlantic Ocean, consists of 9 islands. The westernmost is Ilha da Flores. It only has close to 4000 inhabitants. It's small, but offers beautiful landscape and wonderful hiking possibilitis along the westernmost coast of Europe. We chose to stay on the west coast, in Faja Grande. When we left the island, we had to take a taxi to the eastern side, to Santa Cruz, the small "capital" where the airport is located. On our way to Santa Cruz das Flores and the airport, we passed an old abandoned house close to the city. We saw a beautiful bird painted on one of the walls. The taxi driver told us that the artist is an Amarican named Morgan. During one week she painted a series of murals with birds.
