Street News #1 : MURAL Estival ft Fvckrender, Montreal

New series about news in the World of Street Art. For the first edition, it's a sort of good news as I thought MURAL Festival was going to be canceled. Better than nothing... As @curart38 said in a previous post, Street Art Festival must reinvent themselves like Street Art Fest in Grenoble (France), big parties and huge crowds are gone for this summer, sad...

Beautiful artwork done by Fvckrender (more about this artist below)

So, the 8th edition of MURAL Festival, Montreal festival of urban art, has been transformed into MURAL Estival (estival : summer in French) which will take place all summer long, not only two weeks as usually.

MURAL Estival will be a mix of outdoor activities and virtual programs from June 21 to September 20. No outdoor musical shows, no international artists ☹️... But about 10 local artists (ansd there is a lot talent here) will create murals throughout the summer as it's a solitary activity respecting the new health standards. The names of these muralists will be announced later in June. All information hasn't yet been given, we have to wait and see.

MURAL Estival will create urban development infrastructures called Corridart to allow visitors to look safely art works on Boulevard Saint-Laurent with the necessary physical distance. But the big change is the digital program with online projects for the international artists normally invited this year and virtual tours.

"Ideally, we would like to offer slightly more developed technological tools so that people can make independent virtual tours of the murals. In the near future, we would like to offer 360-degree captions and augmented reality."
Pierre-Alain Benoit, founder of the MURAL Festival

The graphic identity is designed Frédéric Duquette aka Fvckrender. The new poster is pretty cool and I want to learn more about this artist that I didn't know. His personnal journey is truly inspiring which makes this post a little bit longer than expected.

From Quebec, Fvckrender dropped out of school at the age of 17. But in 2016, he had a severe bicycle accident that leaves him partially paralyzed, he decided to train his brain studying 3D modeling with Cinema 4D software.

"I like to reinvent myself everyday, so I guess my inspiration isn’t tied to any specific thing."
Fvckrender (Source Interview Pen & Paper, worth reading by the way)

4 years later, self-taught, he is an internationally renowned artist specializing in motion graphics and augmented reality. He's based in Montreal, Vancouver and Los Angeles. With his Fvckrender Studio, he collaborates regularly with international artists including Flying Lotus, Kate Perry,Lebron James, Calvin Harris... and major brands like Dior, Supreme, Redbull, Swarovski...

He designs futuristic landscapes or geometric & crystalline shapes with stunning render. As he posted daily on Instagram for more than 4 years, it's a very impressive work for one man...
