History of the Lamborghini Jalpa

The Lamborghini Jalpa was produced from 1981 to 1988 to propose a more affordable model than the Countach. The car was designed by Marcello Gandini of Carozzeria Bertone, an Italian coachbuilding company and was presented at the March 1981 Geneva Auto Show.

For the name, Jalpa Kandachia comes from a famous breed of fighting bulls like the Gallardo.

The Lamborghini Jalpa has an 3.5 liter V8 engine deleviring 255 hp with a five-speed manual gearbox. The Jalpa reaches the 100 kmh in 6 seconds, the 160 kmh in 19.1 seconds with a top speed 233 kmh.

With this removable targa-style roof, approximately 410 Jalpa was built during its approximate six-year production run.
